Module 1 - Foundational movement coaching

The content for this module will be delivered through a two-day Strength and Conditioning (S&C) foundations workshop. This workshop will cover all the essential knowledge and skills needed to deliver a foundational movement session to a small group, a key component of your assessment.

The assessment, lasting approximately 20 minutes, will involve a combination of prescribed movements that your UKSCA-accredited assessor will provide.

This hands-on approach ensures that you are well-prepared to demonstrate your ability to effectively lead a foundational movement session in a group setting.

Module 2 - coaching safety in the gym

The content for this module will be delivered through a comprehensive two-day Strength and Conditioning (S&C) foundations workshop. During the workshop, participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely in a strength-based training environment.

Key topics covered will include single-person spotting techniques for back squats, ensuring that participants can confidently and safely support lifters during heavy lifts.

Additionally, the workshop will address how to manage failing movements, such as back squats and push presses, with a focus on safety protocols to prevent injury and ensure a secure training environment.

Module 3 - strength based training

This module will be delivered through an in-person workshop designed to equip you with the skills to create an effective strength-based training program tailored to an individual.

You will be tasked with designing a comprehensive training plan, which will be submitted to your tutor for review. The plan must incorporate a range of prescribed movements provided by your tutor.

Following the submission, you will deliver a 40-minute training session to a participant, observed by a UKSCA-accredited assessor. The session will conclude with a discussion with the assessor, allowing for feedback and reflection on your performance.

module 4 - PROGRAMMING ASSESSMENT

In this module, you will engage in an initial consultation with a real participant, conducting a thorough needs analysis for both the participant and the activity, as well as performing physical screening and testing. Based on this assessment, you will design a comprehensive 12-week training program, including detailed session plans.

Once the program is developed, you will present it to your UKSCA-accredited tutor, where you will be required to justify your design choices and demonstrate how the program addresses the specific needs identified during the consultation and analysis process.

MODULE 5 - PROGRAMMING IMPACT AND REFLECTIVE ASSESSMENT

After designing your 12-week program, you will implement a minimum of 8 weeks of it in a real-world environment with a real participant. Throughout this coaching process, you will document your ongoing reflections and make necessary adjustments to the program.

Upon completion of the program, you will present a 15-minute presentation to your UKSCA-accredited tutor, focusing on the impact of your program, including reflections on participant adherence, attendance, and overall outcomes.

Upon successful completion of all these components, you will earn your Certificate in the Foundations of Strength & Conditioning and officially become a certified S&C Trainer!
